Job Description

Gaston Real Estate Investment Company, a small business in downtown Columbia, is searching for an Assistant Operations Manager.

Our portfolio consists of ~140 residential & commercial rental units owned by the company. Mainly focused on student housing near the University of South Carolina campus. Downtown, Five Points, and Shandon.

Main Tasks Include:

  • collect contractor bids
  • call tenants to discuss work orders
  • meet vendors to go over bids/estimates
  • get materials (either at Lowes/Home Depot) or online
  • screening new hires
  • meet with tenants
  • do house tours

Basically, lots of different stuff.

  • $60,000 - $75,000 total compensation (can be customized package to include benefits important to you).
  • Autonomy is a big deal here - you won't be micromanaged.

  • Company has a small team of 4-5 people.
  • You'll working with 1. Operations Manager (your boss) & 2. Property Manager & 3. A few handymen

  • Flexibility is required. "This isn't part of my job" doesn't work in this company.

Minimum requirements?

  • 2 years of property management, leasing, or real estate experience.
  • 4-year college degree.
  • Willing to work "On-Site" in downtown Columbia. Most properties are near USC.
  • M-F & occasional weekends.
