About the Company

The shop manager is a leader who establishes and maintains intense customer satisfaction while supervising technicians. This work may happen directly on location or in the shop. It is essential that the Shop Manager can learn and retain product-specific information as it pertains to the position.

About the Role

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Collaborates with the Management team to set department goals and assigns initiatives to drive improvements in key operational metrics
• Develops and maintains departmental procedures in conjunction with the Business management process
• Drives enhancements to Service operations to support continued growth within our core business
• Plans, organizes, assigns, and coordinates work to achieve production schedules.
• Diagnose and repair customer-owned equipment
• Promote and schedule service requests
• Prepare new equipment for final delivery to customers
• Participate in long-term planning to create initiatives that further the company’s overall goals
• Assess and analyze departmental budgets to find ways to minimize expenses and optimize profits
• Communicate with senior leadership about shifting company priorities and projects
• Identify potential problems and points of friction and work to find solutions to maximize efficiency and revenue
• Identify opportunities to expand or pivot to take advantage of changes in the market
• Maintains a safe working environment for all personnel
• Facilitates maintenance of building, grounds, equipment, and vehicles
• Establish shop goals and initiatives to drive improvement in key operational areas
• Cross-team collaboration to exchange ideas, participate in cross-team learning opportunities, and drive the development of standard service practices
• Initiates and recommends appropriate personnel actions regarding new employee selection, promotions, training, and employee counseling
• Plans, organizes, assigns, and coordinates work to achieve Service and Production schedules
• Supports and reviews equipment for compliance of safety, reliability, and maintainability

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• 3+ years of demonstrated leadership in front-line supervisory, lead, or equivalent experience in a maintenance environment (CMRP certification is a plus)
• Bachelor’s in Business, Manufacturing, Engineering, Operations or Supply Chain is required (MBA is preferred)
• Journeyman-level Diesel Mechanic experience
• A successful record of developing effective work teams, demonstrated technical ability and problem-solving skills applied to safety, quality, and process improvements.
• Working knowledge of continuous improvement tools and methodologies
• Possess and maintain a valid Class B Interstate CDL
• Ability to read and understand hydraulic and electrical schematics
• AC/DC electrical experience; Multiplex system experience
• PTO installation experience
• Hydraulic installation and repair experience
• Welding experience
• Six Sigma certification is a plus
